Eric's shit list **Another one from my friend up at Michigan Tech.** Well, it's the end of the week and the term for those of us up here in hell (no, wait, if it was hell we could use the big numbers on the thermometer and avoid wool socks that itch). I figured it would be a good time to share with all of you the things that have pissed me off and kept me quiet the last few weeks... Note: most of these, however true they may be, are intended to be tongue-in-cheek (you don't know how long it just took me to figure out how to spell "tongue") and shouldn't be taken as a sign of further mental detirement (I'm not even going to take the time to figure how to spell "det...", wait, I couldn't spell it the first time). Anyway, enjoy knowing that my life isn't as perfect as I make it out to be(j/k). 1. The weather. Yes, I know it's been cold whereever you may be, but "cold" here means something entirely different - and they say absolute zero isn't attainable. Oh, they don't include wind chill, I guess. I don't enjoy going to class on a 3 degree morning with a 30mph headwind. It's also pretty cool when the second floor of the ME-EM building where I have said class is covered with about an inch of snow. That was about the only time I smiled that morning (calc test - arg). 2. Somewhat related - snow removal. Now, they can plow out the lot in front of the building every fuckin' hour with their damn front-end loader with the back-up beeper from hell (I really don't see the need for this at 6 in the morning - if anyone's out that early, they - A: have had enough caffine to make a cat look laid back B: deserve to get run down by a 20-ton yellow thing (If you can't see this....). Now, the lot where I park my truck gets plowed about every other week. We have gotten 3 feet of snow this week. It had to be the off-week. I went to go get my truck yesterday to run some errands. I could see a taillight. That's it. It didn't go anywhere. 3. Profs who think the "No major tests on the final week of the quarter" rule doesn't apply to them. Because my calc prof is such a genius, we had to do double-time on the last two weeks of work (which, BTW, is such easy stuff like L'Hopital's rule, intergration by parts, trig sub, that stuff. He also likes the rigorous approach, which means that we can't do a problem worth a shit, but we can do a two-page prof and a short bio on the guy who developed the stuff). 4. Morons who use computers. I was in the computer lab for around 7 hours Mon. night, which must be the time that they crawl out from their holes. The idiot was on the station next managed to crash *logging out from here account*, necessitating the reboot of the server. Guess who had about 8 programs going at once at the time? Lab assistant (that title is assigned loosely) comes over, and tells me "Logout". Yea, no problem. We should definatly interrupt me so little-miss-whathappensifIpushthiskey can get back online as soon as possible. No problem, only took half-an-hour to get everything back up. No inconvince to me at all. Of course, that was the difference between getting out of there at 2 and 2:30. That's ok, I only have an 8:00 lab final in the same lab the next morning. I don't need sleep. The jackass who sat next to me during the final figured out how to make the computer beep everytime he hit a key. It sounded too much like that snowplow. I should have hit him. I did feel sorry for him, as he was talking his way through each problem and getting them completely wrong. I still should have hit him. People that cry because they can't get their data to work also piss me off. People that pound on the table, causing my disc player to skip every 5 seconds, also piss me off. People that punch the screen mearly amuse me. 5. The fact that my meal plan bill went up by $.01. Does this mean that we're going to have a gumball desert night or something? I want a red one... 6. My roommate's friends who came up during Winter Carnival and started a drunken brawl with half of our floor. At 4:00am. And yelled about it for half-an-hour, giving a blow-by-blow describtion. Don't worry, it was only my fourth night of 4-hour sleep. 7. The weather. Oh, wait, already covered that. 8. "Spring" break. Um, it starts Feb. 22 for me. That's not spring. We have about 5 feet of snow. I don't think it's going to be gone when we get back. I also enjoy the fact it's about a week ahead of everyone else. For those of us that acually wanted to see people while we were downstate, it kinda sucks. For those of us who wanted to see spring-like weather, it also sucks. Oh, wait, those of us that wanted spring-like weather don't go here. 9. I'm out of Coke in my fridge. I don't know how I'm going to study. This could get messy, folks. I'm also out of canned ravioli. That also sucks. I still have about 15 cans of "Healthy Choice" beef soup, though. It has no taste. I don't think it has any beef, either. It is brown, however, and has colorful objects that could be vegetables. Speaking of that, I'm also sick of cafeteria veggies that have the color of a crayon. "Bright" isn't a good adjective for most food. 10. No "Dilbert" comic strip in this week's paper. This isn't going to make me happy. Decent stuff so far in my Far Side calender, though. Plenty of Bob's.
